Welcome to the opening of the exhibition on the Day of Finnish Art 9.8.2025 at 14.00-16.00. The exhibition will be opened by artist Kaiju Haanpää.

The first autumn exhibition at Gallery Pictor, Joint Time, is a joint exhibition by two painters from Vihti, Jukka Nopsanen and Tapani Tamminen. The exhibition brings together works created in Vihti to spend time together. In addition to the works of art, the exhibition includes various documentaries from the artists' careers.

Artists are united by their desire to reach beyond everyday understanding. Nopsanen is a mystic and a romantic, while Tamminen's works emphasise their airy and fluid multi-sensory space. The two artists began exhibiting at relatively the same time, Nopsanen in 1970 and Tamminen in 1966.

Jukka Nopsanen's (b. 1950) paintings often combine figurative subjects with an abstract mosaic surface. For Nopsanen, art is a tool for exploration and observation, a means of accessing miracles, experiences, everyday life, dreams and the sacred. For him, the display of beauty, the sublime and the spiritual are infinitely important elements of his art and artworks. Nopsanen has also painted numerous portraits.

Tapani Tamminen's (b. 1937) paintings are abstract. Their abstract language is soft and flowing. The forms contain many references to figurative, representational and recognisable objects. Tamminen's ability to combine colours and find shades is skilful. Tamminen is not only a painter but also a composer and musician. It is therefore easy to see references to music in Tamminen's paintings.

Nice side events during the exhibition

On Saturday 16.8. from 13-15, the third ever Art Picnic will take place at Gallery Pictor. Let's enjoy a nice summer day together with art and picnics. The programme includes a discussion tour of the exhibition "A Common Time" together with the artists (from 13.15) and music by Duo 100kielet (from 13.45). The gallery will serve sparkling wine and cake at the beginning of the event. The art picnic will take place outside weather permitting, in case of bad weather inside the gallery. Bring your own picnic equipment and lunch. Welcome to spend a relaxed Saturday! There is no need to register and the event is free of charge.

On Tuesday 2.9. at 17-19.30, Gallery Pictor and Vihti Main Library organise an Art Trail. The Art Trail is a visit to the gallery to explore art and get to know the art books. In the main library, you can make your own collages from out-of-print books in a non-stop workshop. The event is free of charge and open to all ages, with under-school children accompanied by an adult. The Art Trail is part of the Child Friendly Week programme.
