Vihti is part of the World Capital of Nature. Here, nature is close at hand everywhere, in and around the city. Nuuksio is one of the two national parks in the Helsinki metropolitan area, and more than half of it is located in Vihti. There are also five other national parks less than an hour and a half away by car.
Hiidenvesi and Lohjanjärvi, Vihti’s largest bodies of water, form the largest waterway system in Uusimaa, which connects to the Baltic Sea. The Salpausselkä ridge, shaped by the Ice Age, divides the Vihti landscape in two. In the western part of Vihti, open fields and waterways give way to the wilderness of the lake uplands. The best example of this is Nuuksio National Park. Vihti’s diverse natural landscape offers travelers excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation and exercise to suit every taste.
