Vihti is part of the World Capital of Nature. Here, nature is close at hand everywhere, in and around the city. Nuuksio is one of the two national parks in the Helsinki metropolitan area, and more than half of it is located in Vihti. There are also five other national parks less than an hour and a half away by car.
Vihti's largest water body, Hiidenvesi and Lohjanjärvi, form the largest river basin in Uusimaa, with a connection to the Arctic Ocean. The Salpausselkä ridge, shaped by the Ice Age, divides the Vihti landscape in two. In the western part of Vihti, open fields and water bodies are transformed into a wilderness of lakesides. The best example of this is Nuuksio National Park. Vihti's varied nature offers tourists a wide range of excellent outdoor activities and sports facilities to suit all tastes.
