Nummelanharju is full of life! The dry canvas forest offers a wide range of activities, but there is also plenty to see.

The ridge offers trails of various lengths (2.5-10 km), some of them illuminated, for walkers, cyclists and joggers. The trails are wide and in good condition. Some of the trails are hilly. There is also an outdoor sports area and a frisbee golf course on the ridge. In winter, it is possible to go skiing and ice-skating on the Nummela ridge.

On Nummelanharju you will also find a lookout point with a magnificent view of Hiidenvede. You can also explore the normal base line of the Geodetic Institute and spot planes at Nummela Airport.

The parking area for the ridge is located at Tarmonmaja (turn off Hiidenvedentie). The airport parking area is located at Lentokentäntie 5, 03100 Nummela. There is also a charging point for electric cars at the airport parking lot.

Nummelanharju routes

There are 2.5-10 km of trails on the Nummela ridge, some of which are also illuminated. In winter, the trails are groomed into tracks. The condition of the trails can be followed here.

Nummelanharju skating rink

In winter, a 750 m long ice skating rink is frozen at Nummelanharju Airport. Access via Tarmonmaja. The condition of the track can be followed here.

Outdoor facilities in Nummelanharju can be found about 200m from the Tarmonmaja parking area, following the trail along Hiidenvedentie.

Nummelanharju Frisbee Golf Course

Geodetic normal baseline

Nummelanharju is the location of Finland's geodetic normal baseline. The distance of 864 metres is used as an aid for mapmaking and calibration of distance measuring instruments. The location can be seen on the ridge route map.

Great views

Along the airport's circular track, on the Hanko-Hyvinkääntie side, there is a lookout point with a magnificent view of the Hiidenvesi. There is a memorial to the 1941 air raid at the viewpoint. On the other side of the field is the Total Energy memorial, which honours the memory of those who took their last flight from Vihti Nummela Airport.
