Menestyjien puisto
The Park of Successful People is a beautiful and pleasant park area in South Nummela, where every year a tree is planted as a commemorative practice by the municipality of Vihti for successful people from Vihti or those who have promoted Vihti nationally. There are currently 24 award-winning trees in the park. Below you can see the trees that have been planted in the Park of Successes so far.
Menestyjien puisto is located in the centre of Nummela on a 6.1 hectare park area, which is connected to the Pajuniitty and Muistola parks and the Nummela Niittu wetland park. The trees of Menestjien puisto are located in the park along a 200-metre route, which is accessible from both Naaranpajuntie and Pajuniityntie.
The park's mounds and water area with bridges are exciting for children, but as a rule, the flat grass also makes it possible to sit down, for example for a picnic. There are wide paths around the area, which can also be used by wheelchairs and pushchairs. There are benches along the paths. The Pajuniity obstacle course is also located in the same park area.
Aleksi Mäkelä
Film director Aleksi Mäkelä will be awarded a red maple Brandywine in 2024.
The red herring is like a good film that enchants the viewer. The tree is full of charisma, and its colourfulness represents the fire of art and creativity. Brandywine suggests relaxing moments of creativity, as well as the pleasures of life, when inspiration can come from a drink with good friends. Red Maple combines the beauty of art, personal charm and a touch of playfulness.
Viivi Väistö
Figure skater Viivi Väistö was awarded the 2023 Rose Ribbon.
The delicate and beautiful flowers of the rosebay hawthorn burst into bloom in June, with a strikingly abundant bloom. The tree has character, with thorns as well as flowers. The skater also requires sensitivity and aesthetics as well as strength and sharpness. All of these traits are present in Viivi.
Toomas Lahtinen
In 2023, rider Toomas Lahtinen was awarded a family apple tree.
Lahtinen is a successful and goal-oriented athlete, who is also a cheerleader and encourager for others. This is of great importance, because in sport you need community spirit and to pull together. When you're with a horse, you're often like a family - and you can enjoy some lovely apples.
Hannes Tuovinen
Hannes Tuovinen, a war veteran, will be the sole beneficiary in 2022 and his chosen tree species will be Scots pine.
Tuovinen's attitude and actions have shown exceptional strength, perseverance and optimism. They are also reflected in the perseverance of the pillar pine and its distinctive shape in the forest landscape.
Aleksi Beautiful Water
Musician Aleksi Kaunisvesi aka Alex Mattson was awarded a purple statue in 2021.
Purple oak is perhaps the most punky of all woods, and its dark reddish exterior and almost black body fit the genre of Blind Channel, Kaunisvede's band: violent pop. The fast-growing tree epitomises Kaunisvede's musical career - he has achieved a lot in a short space of time.
Jani Lakanen
In 2021, orienteer Jani Lakanen was awarded a sugar maple.
The maple is a familiar sight to the orienteer in the forests of southern Finland, but this convention is broken by a different kind of maple. The sugar maple grows naturally in Canada, which has a very similar climate and forested cavities suitable for orienteering, as does Finland.
The autumn colour of the tree ranges from yellow to orange, and the trunk is cinnamon brown.
Janne Korpi
Snowboarder and trotter Janne Korpi was rewarded in 2021 with the big-ribbon lava 'glass palace' variety.
Korve's tree, the big-ribbon lava 'Lasipalatsi', was taken as a cutting from the big-ribbon lava next to the Lasipalatsi Palace in Helsinki, which was felled by a storm in 2003. The year of the storm is the same year as the start of Korvi's boarding career in the World Cup. The tree is well suited to the Viht landscape and thrives in clayey habitats - even in wet standing water, a rare characteristic for trees. This is a good illustration of Korvi's talent as an athlete, first as a snowboarder and then as a trotter.
