Nuuksio: Kattila

Kattila is located on the shores of Kaitlammi in the middle of the Nuuksio National Park and is particularly well connected to various trails.

Kattila is a great place to start your trip to Nuuksioon. From Kattila you can easily get to Kurjolampi, Salmi outdoor area, Haukkalampi and Haltia. At the starting point of Kattila there are 116 parking spaces, a signpost, a drinking water point, a dry toilet, a fireplace and a waste sorting point.

During the summer, you can get to Kattila from Espoo city centre by bus 245A.

Takala path and shelter

From the boiler house there is a 1.5 km long, easily accessible Takala trail through forested landscapes. The trail is marked with a black orange line. The trail leads to Takala's hut, where there is a fireplace and a dry latrine. From Takala lodge you can continue along the connecting trail to the Salmi outdoor recreation area or return to Kattila. There is no winter maintenance on the Takala trail.

The boiler is also easily accessible by bicycle. Please check the Nuuksio map for suitable cycling routes.

Boiler room services

Kattila is also home to Green Window Oy, which provides accommodation and meeting services for groups, including programme services, a restaurant and the rental of Kattila's facilities. The company's yard is on private land.

Early childhood education groups and school classes can also reserve the Kattila camping area for nature education. The area is not reserved for private individuals or organisations.

Remember the hiking etiquette in Nuuksio

  • Respect nature.
  • Prefer marked routes.
  • Camp only in authorised areas.
  • Only come to authorised places.
  • Don't litter.
