In Vihti you will find a wide range of things to do on summer days. Whether you come for a visit or for a longer stay. With the family or with a larger group. Whether you're looking to get up to speed or just take it easy.

An active family park day in Nummela

Take the whole family or a group of friends for a round of frisbee golf on Nummelanharju! The 18-hole, varied course has a great ridge terrain, from a 30-metre putt to a challenge of just under 200 metres.

After the race, you can relax or continue with yard games in Muistolan puisto park along Naaranpajuntie and take a tour of the adjacent Menestjien puisto. In this 'tree park' remembering those who put Vihti on the world map, you will find, among other things, Anssi Kela's ornamental apple tree, Markus Selin's oak tree and Blind Channel's Aleksi Kaunisvesi's bird cherry tree!

Also nearby are the Pajuniity bootcamp, a fun obstacle course for both children and adults, an accessible multi-golf course and the Nummela Niitun wetland park.

You can enjoy a snack in Nummela's many restaurants and cafés or climb up the Linnaniitu fitness stairs and enjoy a picnic lunch in the lava while watching the sunset.

Even children enjoy Vihdi

Perhaps the most popular places for children in Vihti are next to each other. For the more energetic, there's PuuhaPark, a park with over 100 active activities, and for the more sedate, Hennola's livestock yard is the place to see both traditional and more exotic farm animals.

Food is served at both places, but you can also go to Hiekkahentunen or one of the restaurants in the church village!

In Vihti church village you can go for a swim at the Pappis beach or enjoy an ice cream at the beach kiosk at Vihti's boat beach. And if you're feeling energetic, you can go and catch a movie at Vihdin Kino.

Getting in the mood in Vihti church village

Vihti church village has retained a beautiful, serene atmosphere in which to enjoy a beautiful summer's day. The main road in the village, Niuhalanraitti, is lined with lush courtyards and beautiful buildings such as Taidetalo Siirilä, the deliciously rose-coloured Kauppatalo and Vihdin Meijeri.

The new home of the Vihti Museum is being built on the edge of the village square, in Vihti's first municipal hall, the Kuntala, completed in 1911. The magnificent Vihti Free Fire Brigade station can also be seen below the church hill. Across the street from the Kuntala, behind the birch trees, you can see a traditional 'makasiini' type of building and in its courtyard, the Gadolinite stone park, named after the world-famous chemist Professor Johan Gadolin.

From the route, it is worth stopping at Vihti Church Hill, where you can admire the church, originally built in 1772 in the Gustavian style, and the views of Hiidenveda. From Niuhalanraiti, it is of course worth continuing to the end of Kirkkoniementie to admire the ruined church of St Birgitta and the shores of Kirkkojärvi.

It's good to end a relaxed day with a laugh. The Vihti Summer Theatre is also located along Kirkkoniementie, where the farce Diivat, written by Ken Ludwig and directed by Antti Taipalee, will be shown from 9 July 2022.

A wealth of events to suit all tastes

This year Vihti is celebrating a great summer of events!

The first ever Hiidenkirnu Festival will take place from Friday to Saturday 15-16 July 2022. On Nummelanharju, in the baseball stadium Hiidenkirnu, you can meet JVG, SANNI, Blind Channel, Eppu Normaali and others. At the same time, take a peek at the sky when experimental enthusiasts show off the planes they have built at the Experimental Fly In Nummela event on 15-17 July 2022.

Great things to do for families include the Leijat Nummelan Yllä ("Kites over Nummela)  event on Saturday 6 August 2022 from 11-15 and the traditional Medieval-style Wuosisatamarkkinat in the Vihti church village on Saturday 20 August 2022 from 10-16.

Another new and exciting addition to the event scene is the Pahantorjuja film festival, which focuses on providing net positive cinematic experiences. The festival will take place Fri-Sat 5-6 August 2022 at Vihti church village. The seven films will be screened in Vihdin Kino and the summer theatre.

And while summer may be a fading memory in October, you should definitely mark your calendar for Palma Art Night's successor, Nummela Art Night, a cross-artistic celebration of light and colour.
at Nummela Airport on Saturday 8.10.2022!
