In January, the shores of Lake Nuuksio will be lit up by hundreds of icicles!
Now in its third year, the event brings together the many entrepreneurs, communities and individuals of the Nuuksio Lake District to create atmospheric events and moments illuminated by ice lanterns.
In contrast to Lux Helsinki, Nuuksio's own light event will feature a living fire surrounded by the natural darkness of the forest and the twilight of the countryside.
Lux Nuuksio began in 2021, then known as Lux Hawkhill, when entrepreneurs from the accommodation and experiences provider Hawkhill lit up their cottage village with dozens of ice lanterns for the delight of their customers.
Encouraged by the enthusiastic reception, in 2022 other entrepreneurs, associations and residents in the area were invited to join. 18 participants from all over the lake district, from Vihti, Kirkkonummi and Espoo, took part and as many as 903 ice lanterns were lit!
