The centre of Nummela receives a makeover during the first summer street trial for the municipality of Vihti. The street section along Pilkkukuja from the roundabout to the corner of the K-Supermarket parking lot will be closed for cars from May 27 to June 11. Together with Pisteenpolku that leads to the Veikko Helle market square, the area will be transformed into a pleasant stretch of summer streets with atmospheric market stalls, seated areas reserved for relaxation and street food dining, and street art elements. The versatile programme of Summer Street Weeks invites people of all ages from Vihti and elsewhere in the region to spend time in summery Nummela with games, exercise, shows, picnics, sing-alongs, and daytime dancing, for example.
- The purpose of the summer street trial is to make the centre of Nummela more attractive by improving the conditions for pedestrians and enlivening the street spaces. If this year's trial is successful, we will consider it again for future summers, says Petra Ståhl, Director of Business and Economic Development at the municipality of Vihti.
Nummela Day held on Saturday May 27, from 10:00 to 18:00, is organized by Nummelan Kilta, Vihti Youth Chamber of Commerce, and local entrepreneurs and brick and mortar stores in cooperation with the municipality of Vihti. Events during Nummela Day will be organized in the area around K-Citymarket Nummela and Linjaportti from 10:00 to 14:00, and in the afternoon after 14:00 in the Veikko Helle market square and the surrounding area.
