Galleria Pictor, Vihti Municipality's space for art, invites you again this year to enjoy high quality and diverse art and experience great things!

Since its inception, Galleria Pictor has showcased the most successful and talked about artists in the country and the cutting edge of Estonian art, and this year is no exception.

This year, Galleria Pictor will host six diverse and interesting exhibitions. The selected artists have been pioneers in both subject matter and working methods.

Gallery Pictor is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 12 to 16 and on Saturdays from 10 to 15. Groups can book their own gallery visit on Thursday mornings from 9-12.Bookings by email at galleriapictor(at)vihti.fi.

Galleria Pictor exhibitions in 2023:

Three eyes / Kaiju Haanpää, Maippi Ketola and Leena Mäki-Patola (28.1.-10.3.)

The Pictor year starts with a joint exhibition by three artists, Three Eyes. Kaiju Haanpää, Maippi Ketola and Leena Mäki-Patola are related but very different artists. Haanpää is a textile artist, Ketola a multidisciplinary media artist and Mäki-Patola's main material is ceramics.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on 28.1.2023 at 14-16.The exhibition will be opened by Professor Helena Sederholm.

Tuula Närhinen (18.3.-6.5.)

In March, the gallery will be filled with Tuula Närhinen's art. Närhinen is a pioneer of art dealing with ecological issues in Finland. Närhinen uses the methods of natural science in her works to show things that we cannot see with our eyes.

School of Fine Arts (13.5.-3.6.)

Galleria Pictor's spring events include an exhibition by the Vihti School of Fine Arts, where students bring their work. This tradition is important for both the students and the gallery, and the collaboration is of great importance for art education. The Vihti School of Fine Arts also visits all the gallery's exhibitions throughout the year.

Outi Pienimäki (10.6.-29.7.)

In the summer, the Pictor will feature paintings by Outi Pienimäki. The language of Outi Pienimäki's painting is expressive, but at the same time poetic, appealing to the senses and emotions. Pienimäki describes her works thus: "Painting is language, at the core of language is the emergence of meaning".

Helinä Hukkataipale (5.8.-16.9.)

Helinä Hukkataipalee's exhibition opens the autumn. Hukkataival is a pioneer of performance art. In her art, Hukkataival deals with the life of a woman, everyday activities and the expectations placed on the body, a kind of wasteland.

Jussi Heikkilä (23.9.-4.11.)

The annual cycle closes with an exhibition of a pioneer of the craft. Jussi Heikkilä is a conceptual artist who focuses on observing ecological balance and exploring nature. Heikkilä observes natural phenomena, especially through birds. The works are the result of up to ten years of research and collecting.
