Nuuksio National Park

Nuuksio is an approximately 200 square kilometre stretch of lake, most of which is located in the municipality of Vihti. The highlands also extend to Kirkkonummi and Espoo, and Nuuksio National Park was established in 1994. A new nature centre, Haltia, serves visitors in Nuuksio, focusing on offering experiences.

The national park forms the peaceful heart of the metropolitan area, a magnificent natural treasure with well-maintained and marked outdoor trails, campfires, cooking pits and camping areas. There are dozens of small lakes, ponds and marshes in the National Park. The lakeshores have excellent rocky outlooks, shaped by the Ice Age. Nature is very varied and diverse.

Nuuksio is the largest and most important unified salo area in Uusimaa. You can explore Nuuksio independently, for example by hiking, horse riding or mountain biking. If you are looking for an organised programme, excursions, meals or cabin accommodation, there are many companies in Vihti that offer their services in Nuuksio.
